3. Lamical Perine, running back

It seems week in and week out, we’re talking about the struggles of the Florida football running game.

Now, we all know that most of it is attributed back to the lackluster play of the offensive line this season.

But, c’mon, we could really use a break for the running game.

Here is where senior running back Lamical Perine comes into the picture.

Perine is one of the seniors on this team who have lost to Georgia twice in a row now. Couple that with the criticism he and the running game have had all season, I would like to think he has a huge chip on his shoulder.

And, with fellow running back Dameon Pierce questionable for the game, the load is going to come down on Perine’s shoulders.

He leads Florida football in rushing (460 yards) and overall yardage (577) as well as yards per game (72.1), but it just doesn’t seem like he’s gotten off on the right foot this season.

Now, the Bulldogs are strong against the run (only 600 yards this season), but they really haven’t faced a running team. The closest to a running team they faced — South Carolina — they lost to.

For note, they gave up 142 yards on the ground to the Gamecocks — let that sink in because South Carolina isn’t that good.

So, all signs — again — point to the potential for Perine to have a big game Saturday.
