Florida football: 5 Gators to watch Saturday against Georgia
2. David Reese, linebacker
Saturday could be a big challenge for linebacker David Reese and the rest of the Florida football secondary.
Because Georgia is so balanced between the run and the pass, it is the linebackers that will be tested the most.
Reese, let’s be honest, is one most opposing offenses want to stay away from.
He’s big (6-foot-1, 239 pounds) and he’s everywhere — leads the Gators in tackles with 66.
But, even if Georgia stays away from him, that can be used to Florida’s advantage.
With the run, the Bulldogs like to sweep to the left or the right — more the left which is right where Reese would be. If they hope to avoid that, they have to go to the left and meet Trey Dean or Ventrell Miller.
But, Reese and the rest of the linebacking corps is pretty versatile, so they can be interchanged at any time depending on what the circumstances call for.
This is a great opportunity for Reese to make a mark on the season. Stopping D’Andre Swift and the Georgia running game is priority one and Reese is a body that helps do that.
