Portland State at Arkansas

When: 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 at Fayetteville, Arkansas (Reynolds Razorback Stadium)

How to watch: SEC Network with David Neal, DJ Shockley and Dawn Davenport.

Outlook: Razorback head coach Chad Morris made news when he selected SMU graduate transfer Ben Hicks his starter for the season opener.

Hicks was SMU’s all-time leader in passing (9,081 yards), total offense (8,977 yards), touchdown passes (71) and 300-yard games (12).

The hope is Hicks can help lead Arkansas out of last season’s doldrums of finishing 2-10 overall.

They have a good chance to start on the right foot facing a Portland State team that finished 4-7 overall last season and 3-5 in the Big Sky Conference. It will be the first time the Vikings have played an SEC team in school history.

Offensively, the Vikings do return junior quarterback Davis Alexander and All-American tight end Charlie Taumoepeau.

The Last Line: The first meeting with an SEC team for Portland State will likely be one to forget, even if it is against Arkansas.
