Just days away from Florida football kick off with the Miami Hurricanes as they go head to head at Camping World Stadium. It is and has been hyped now for quite some time.

The excitement is high for all involved as there is a lot on the line for both teams. Or is there?

The unranked Hurricanes are trying to get back to competiting for ACC titles year in year out.

They will come into this game with a coach that will coach his first game as the head guy. He brought with him a quarterback that will be starting his first college game.

What really does Miami have to lose if they lose?

As long as they play good, they will be fine. But the for the No. 8 Gators, well …

The Climb Back

Last season was a great year for Florida. They won 10 games and had a good bowl win against Michigan. With the team’s high output in the final four games, it only fueled expectations. Fans and the institution have taken those expectations and tried to build on that in the off-season.

The spring game showed the progress they made with an offensive output that was record-setting. Those thoughts of a great year were only enhanced when the Gators were ranked No. 8 in preseason polls.

Now it is all up to them on how far they can go. But will the program be devastated with a loss as some have said?

The fact is this is only the second year for coach Mullen and the fact that they are in a position to be talked about as a team that will contend is more than good, it is great. The mentality should always be to win and to win at the highest level. And Mullen has installed that in his team, but he would be the first to say the goal is to win the SEC East first. Last I checked Miami was not in the East.

Can The Gators Still Get To Title Game

Yes, being ranked in the preseason is a two-fold deal. One is if you win then the pollsters were right and stay ranked.

Second is if you lose you may drop hard or even out of the rankings. One positive is the ranking of No. 8. This high of a ranking in the preseason could be a benefit as well with a loss. They would most likely move down but not too far that they could not climb back up.

The first game of the season could just be a blimp in the mirror if they run the table after.

Florida plays some really big games every year and those wins could be an easy offset to an early loss. Coupled with a trip to the SEC Championship game and a win, getting to the Playoffs would not be out of reach.

with games against number six LSU and number three Georgia and a potential match-up with No. 2 Alabama, it is all in the hands of the Florida Football team right now.

No sport more than CFB is less forgiving over one lose. But as has been the case over the years, if you are going to lose, do it early.

So is there a lot on the line for the Number eight team in the country this week?

Next. C.J. Henderson is getting all he deserves. dark

Yes, they will be fine as they will win, but it is nothing more than any other year for Florida Gator Football.
