Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason has faced the Gators five times, all as head coach of the Commodores.

That’s not to say he hasn’t had an interesting career.

Prior to going to Nashville, Mason was the co-defensive coordinator for David Shaw at Stanford. During that time, the Cardinal never played Florida football.

Before a brief stint with the Minnesota Vikings, Mason was a coach for Ohio, New Mexico State, Utah, Bucknell, Idaho State and Weber State.

Despite the geography, he never coached against the Gators.

However, his overall record against Florida at Vanderbilt: 0-5.
