Florida football has picked up another 4-star recruit from the class of 2020. On Friday night, the Gators earned a commitment from Lamar Goods.

A day after the Florida football team lost out on 2021 prospect Brock Vandergriff, they picked up a solid 4-star recruit.

Connecticut native and defensive tackle Lamar Goods committed to the Gators just a week after visiting the campus in Gainesville.

Goods, a 6-foot-4, 290-pound tackle from St. Thomas More High School in Oakdale, Connecticut, announced his commitment on his Twitter account.

Goods makes the 14th total recruit for the Gators from the class of 2020.

The commitment moved the Gators up to the No. 8 overall recruiting class in the nation, according to 247Sports. Florida football jumped Oklahoma, South Carolina and North Carolina in the team rankings with Goods’ commitment.

Florida now has the No. 4 recruiting class in the Southeastern Conference for the class of 2020, following Alabama, LSU and Georgia. The Gators sit one behind Miami for the best recruiting class in Florida.

Goods told 247Sports one of the primary reasons for his decision to commit to Florida was defensive line coach David Turner.

“That’s my guy, we have a good relationship,” Goods said of Turner. “We’re on the same page of what I want to accomplish once I get there, it’s a really good relationship.”

He said Turner told him how important defensive tackles would be from the class of 2020 and how he fits into a role with the Gators.

"“He wants me to work inside and do what I do,” he said on where Turner sees him playing. “He just wants me to get it done on the inside. I looked at the need and I want to go to a place that there is a hard drive to play and I also want to have a chance to play my freshman year. Florida will give me a chance to play earlier than most people.”"

He added that he is finished with recruiting visits and that his plan is to stick with the Gators.

“Yeah, I’m done with my recruitment,” he said. “I appreciate everything that the schools did but when everything is said, I’m a Gator.”
