He has played and coached in the NCAA, the CFL and the NFL

Nussmeier’s career is a long and detailed one for a 44-year-old coach, which features many different stops along the way.

He started his college career at Idaho University, where he was a starter for four years before being drafted in the 1994 NFL Draft in the fifth round by the New Orleans Saints.

Nussmeier was primarily a backup QB from 1994 to 1998 with the Saints and the Indianapolis Colts before moving on to a player/coach role with the BC Lions of the CFL in 2000.

From 2003 until his present appointment with the Gators, Nussmeier has served as either the quarterbacks coach or the offensive coordinator for every team that he’s been with, which includes the St. Louis Rams, Michigan St. and Alabama.

Nussmeier is only one of 32 left-handed quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL.
