Birdman Betrays Lil Wayne, Gator Fans Know that Feeling
Ah yes, the word betrayal is an everlasting word that is consistently thrown around in the sports domain.

Why, just last week we saw the perfect example of betrayal when DeAndre Jordan experienced a severe case of cold feet and ditched the Dallas Mavericks at the NBA Free Agent altar.
In a much more serious case, it sounds like rapper and Cash Money pioneer Birdman allegedly tried to assassinate his former protégé Lil Wayne.
Hudson Hongo of Gawker writes that the tour buses carrying Lil Wayne and several other Young Money artists were shot multiple times, gangland-style.

And now it appears that an indictment was handed down from the state of Georgia to Jimmy Winfrey, the man behind the shooting and the manager of one of Birdman’s new artists.
Birdman and Lil Wayne were attached at the hip, a relationship that was borderline father and son love. But it appears that love is no longer.
There’s only one thing in the college football world that relates as close to this dastardly act of treachery: Urban Meyer leaving Florida for a mini-vacation/Ohio State.
But of course, it makes complete sense that Meyer’s name is the first you think of when compared to Birdman; Gator fans can appreciate the level of deceit and hurt that Weezy must be feeling.
Remember that time when the Gators most shunned son Aaron Hernandez sucker punched a bar employee so bad that he ruptured his eardrum?
Not only did we not find out about that story seven years later, good ole Meyer played Hernandez in five games of that 2007 season.
We all know how well Hernandez turned out after his time at Florida.
How about that time when Meyer initially suspended Chris Rainey for five games after he was arrested for texting his girlfriend threatening messages, one which said he was going to kill her.
Meyer betrayed Gator faithful by not only allowing Rainey back on the team, but he became one of the feature pieces on offense.
Or how about the entirety of Percy Harvin’s career at Florida; the talented but headache-inducing receiver routinely tested positive for marijuana.
He once quit running stadium steps with the rest of his teammates because he felt like it.
He even physically attacked one of Meyer’s own coaches by shoving him to the ground by his neck.

As far as we know, Harvin never missed any games and was never really disciplined for any of his behavior by Meyer.
Meyer continually deceived Gator fans by never holding Harvin accountable for his actions, who by all accounts, isn’t that great of a person and was a worse teammate at Florida, yet he was presented as such.
Maybe we shouldn’t blame Meyer for being too cowardly to discipline his players, he does get paid to win games and there are few who do it better than Meyer after all.
But it’s hard to not to feel that tinge of dishonesty whenever a new story comes from the muck that stains the otherwise glorious tenure that Meyer reigned over.
At least Meyer didn’t go the route that Birdman and Lil Wayne went on.
Who could’ve ever guessed being a rap star was a much more dangerous gig than being a Gators fan?
