McElwain hasn’t decided on a starting quarterback

One of the more important things that came out of Florida’s SEC Media Day is that McElwain has yet to decide on who will start at quarterback in Week 1.

The two obvious front-runners for the position are sophomore Treon Harris and redshirt freshman Will Grier.

But with McElwain’s hesitancy to name a starter, he inadvertently gave away who will ultimately play against New Mexico State on Sept. 3.

In a tight quarterback competition, you would figure Harris’ SEC experience game experience from 2014 would put him in the driver’s seat to start. It appears though that means nothing to McElwain.

You have to assume then that McElwain might be leaning towards starting Grier; a quarterback that better fits McElwain’s pro-style passing attack and can throw the deep ball more effectively than Harris.
