Florida Gators Rivalry Reviewed: Georgia Bulldogs

Logos: The current Georgia logo of the oblong G is an obvious homage to one of pro football’s most iconic franchises, the Green Bay Packers. UGA just made the colors their own and, in the process, made one of the most recognizable logos in collegiate athletics. When you see the black and red “G”, you know it represents the Dawgs. Plenty of high schools take college and professional logos and make them their own by changing the colors. Georgia certainly has done this and in turn, created one of the most recognizable symbols of the University of Georgia.

Georgia’s tried to introduce some secondary logos with limited success. The most popular alternate logo would likely be the bulldog with black and red hat on. UGA tried to introduce a new logo with some new lettering in 2013, but fans have not adopted the new look. The Georgia-style lettering is something that adorns all uniforms except for football (with the exception of the “G”) and is all across their stadiums and arenas. We’ll see if the new branding catches on soon.
