Now that the Super Bowl has come and gone, we have now entered the portion of the sporting calendar where college basketball has become the way of the land. Florida has put together their best season in over a decade and is in prime position to capture America's attention over the next two months.
With the latest AP Poll and Player of the Week honors, the Gators keep racking up the accolades as Selection Sunday gets closer.
Florida Basketball: Moving On Up
Following Florida's beatdown of Auburn on Saturday, combined with Duke's loss to Clemson, the Gators moved up from #6 in the AP Poll to #3 in the country.
Despite their loss, Auburn held on to the number one spot while Alabama moved up to #2. Duke tied with Florida for #3 while Tennessee came in at #5.

It is annoying to see Auburn still ahead of Florida after Saturday, but it wasn't unexpected. The Tigers still have the best NET ranking and have a built-in buffer of 12-2 in Quad 1 games.
This is the highest the Gators have been ranked in an AP Poll since the 2013/14 season when they were ranked #1 and made it to the Final Four.
Also gaining honors was Alex Condon, who was awarded SEC Player of the Week. The sophomore picked up his 5th double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Auburn. That followed the 19 points and nine rebounds he had against Vanderbilt earlier in the week.
This is the second time Condon was won player of the week honors and he is the first Gator to win it twice in a single season since Colin Castleton did it in 2020/21.
Florida's next two games are two they should expect to win, but in the SEC, nothing is guaranteed. Florida travels to Mississippi State on Tuesday before having a rematch against South Carolina in Gainesville on Saturday.
