If you know anything about Texas high school football, Duncanville High is one of the powerhouses programs the playoffs almost always go through. Duncanville won the 6A D1 state title in 2022 and 2023 and has made at least the state semifinals every year in Texas since 2018. Duncanville has had recent players such as Texas EDGE Colin Simmons, LSU RB Caden Durham, Alabama QB Keelon Russel, Oregon WR Dakorien Moore, and incoming Florida EDGE KJ Ford pass through the program.

With the Gators set to have another busy weekend of recruiting ahead of them, Florida is hoping to make waves with a wide receiver who feels like a one-man touchdown machine at times.

Florida set to host Trenton Yancey this weekend

Trenton Yancey is a wide receiver from Duncanville, TX. Listed at 5’10” and 195 pounds, Yancey is listed as a four-star by 247 and ESPN, while Rivals has him as a low-rated three-star.

On film, Yancey is a one-man show at times, which is saying something considering he is surrounded by talent. His run-after-catch abilities turn a simple screen pass into touchdowns, and he does it without needing to hit 20 juke moves along the way. When he goes downfield, it doesn’t matter if teams play press or try to give him a ten-yard cushion; he finds a way to always take the top off the defense.

He also gets used in wildcat situations, and he just finds a way to get upfield and score without needing to be super slippery. All told, Yancey had 17 total touchdowns on the season and 1168 total yards in 13 games played.

His speed isn’t necessarily blinding, backed up by a 100-meter dash PR of 11.23 seconds, and it’s probably the impetus for why his star ranking isn’t higher despite his production. But anytime a player can score 17 touchdowns in 13 games while playing in the top division in Texas, he is going to garner the attention of college coaches.

Yancey is set to be among the lengthy list of visitors Florida will have in town this weekend. This will be his first trip to Gainesville, and he has an official visit lined up in June. He also has an official visit with Texas lined up, and Ohio State made an offer back in March.
