Heading into the 2025 season, Florida Football is in an interesting boat. The Gators have a ceiling that could wind up in Atlanta, but could also easily bottom out into a five win season.
But at least Florida has hope of a great season sitting here in May. The following teams are ones that we feel confident in saying that even if everything goes right in 2025, they have zero shot at winning the SEC title this season.
Florida Gators have a chance, but Mississippi State does not
The only winless team in the SEC last season is still looking at a rough go of things in 2025. As we highlighted in our QB preview, Blake Shapen is better than advertised, and the Bulldogs had their season tank last year because Shapen got hurt.
But Mississippi State would consider going 4-4 in SEC play a great season, a far cry from what is needed to get to Atlanta.
Kentucky
With Zach Calzada at QB, the Wildcats have one of the biggest question marks in the SEC at QB.
Combined with Mark Stoops having his own ceiling, even if everything goes correctly, and much like Mississippi State, Kentucky would view 4-4 in the SEC as a success.
Vanderbilt
The Commodores were feisty last season and could continue to surprise people and be a thorn in the side of everyone in the SEC in 2025.
Vanderbilt also has Diego Pavia coming back, which should help their cause. But it is tough to envision Vanderbilt holding up in the trenches for eight games in the SEC to give them any real shot at Atlanta.
Arkansas
The Razorbacks are going to have one of the better QBs in the SEC with Taylen Green, but the problem for Arkansas is that they have to navigate Texas A&M, Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss, and Texas as part of their SEC slate.
Missouri is considered one of its "easier" games in the SEC.
So, like Florida, they have a brutal SEC schedule. Unlike Florida, they don't have the upside to navigate that schedule well enough to even dream of winning the SEC.
