Lost in the glow and excitement of the Gators winning the national title in basketball on Monday is that Florida Football is playing its spring game this Saturday. The annual Orange and Blue game will be at 1 PM in The Swamp.

For the most part, making huge declarations after a spring game is risky to do. However, there are newcomers to Florida who could benefit from having a solid public showing this Saturday.

The following are the three players new to the Gators who we would like to see have a good day in The Swamp.

Florida Football: Is Harrison Bailey the backup QB?

At the start of spring camp, one would have assumed that transfer Harrison Bailey would be DJ Lagway's backup. Florida also has Aidan Warner, Tramell Jones, and Clay Millen on the roster, but Bailey best fits the profile of a veteran backup.

However, as spring practice progressed, the word from the Gators is that Bailey still has work to do if he wants to secure the backup job for 2025. And with the status of Lagway still shrouded in mystery, Gator fans would feel a bit better with a solid backup heading into the season.

J. Michael Sturdivant

If you go strictly off of highlights and camp workouts, J. Michael Sturdivant looks like a guy who could eclipse 1,000 yards in 2025.

If you go by metrics and actual on-the-field production, Sturdivant could go under 500 yards this season, and no one paying attention would be surprised.

What fans want to see on Saturday is whether Sturdivant can separate, track, and locate the ball in the air.

Make a couple of catches on Saturday, and he could make fans feel a lot better about the wide receiver position heading into 2025.

Hylton Stubbs

With Gregory Smith III's departure to the transfer portal, Hylton Stubbs is probably going to be called into action for the Gators sooner rather than later.

And, depending on how Jordan Castell and Bryce Thornton look once the season begins, Stubbs might be needed to play some big snaps in 2025.

Camp reports have been good on Stubbs, but it's one thing for a coach to say and another for us to see it with our own eyes.
