The NBA Draft is fast approaching on June 25, and Florida Gator star Walter Clayton Jr. is going to be one of the more talked about prospects in the Draft. After leading Florida to a national title, Clayton was initially seen as a potential top-20 pick but has since had mock drafts sliding him down toward the end of the first round.
If Clayton is picked in the first round, he would become just the 13th Gator all-time to be selected in the first round.
Here is how the previous 12 Gators selected stacked up in their own NBA careers.
Neal Walk (1969, 1st Rd, 2nd pick) – Phoenix Suns
Whenever the topic of who belongs on Mount Rushmore for Florida comes up, Neal Walk always seems to be left out even though, to this day, he is still Florida's all-time leader in rebounds and is still 9th in career points as a Gator.
Walk is also the highest Gator ever drafted. He went on to eight seasons in the NBA, with his highlight season being in 1972-73 when he averaged 20.2 points per game and 12.4 rebounds per game with the Suns.
Bradley Beal (2012, 1st Rd, 3rd pick) – Washington Wizards
Bradley Beal is still hanging around the NBA after his one-year stop with the Gators. He is a three-time All-Star who had a monster year in 2021 with Washington when he averaged 31.3 points per game.
He was traded to Phoenix in 2023 and has since seen his production take a nosedive.
Al Horford (2007, 1st Rd, 3rd pick) – Atlanta Hawks
After winning back-to-back titles with the Gators, Al Horford has probably had the most successful career of any Gator in the NBA.
He's a five-time All-Star and finally won himself a ring in the NBA with Boston last season. As of now, he still plans to play in 2025-26 after averaging 9.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game with Boston this season.
