Former Florida outfielder Wyatt Langford hit his first home run of his 2025 campaign yesterday. The Ranges standout launched an opposite-field home run to even the score of 2-2 against the Boston Red Sox. The Rangers would eventually win the contest by a final score of 3-2, improving their overall record to three wins and one loss.

Langford finished the contest two-of-four, improving his season batting average to .333, along with adding his first RBI and home run.

The former Florida outfielder hopes to surpass his rookie success of last season, impressively batting with an average of .253 with 74 RBIs and 16 home runs. Langford was fast-tracked to the big leagues after getting drafted by the Rangers in 2023 and after a successful 2024 campaign this is the first Opening Day roster he has been a part of.

Texas meanwhile is coming off a disappointing 78–84 campaign where they missed the playoffs one season after winning the World Series in 2023. Most preseason predictions have Texas in a right race to win the AL West in 2025, and one ESPN analyst envisions a pathway for Langford to hit 30 home runs with over 100 RBIs in 2025.

During his time with the Gators, Langford was a career .363 hitter with 47 home runs and an eye popping 1.217 OPS. During the 2023 season with Florida, Langford had an on base percentage of .498 and helped lead the Gators the College World Series championship game, where they eventually lost to LSU in game three.
