Baseball is a sport where going into a series saying a team has to sweep or else is usually not a good gambit, considering the weird bounce that can dictate a single game. But for Florida Baseball, they entered their series against Missouri needing just that.

Mission accomplished for the Gators as Florida took care of its doubleheader on Saturday to sweep Missouri to keep hope alive of turning the 2025 season around.

Florida Baseball: Winning Streak

Missouri is awful and entered this weekend winless in SEC play, but the Tigers did have some nice plays in the outfield to attempt to keep things close.

Both games on Saturday were seven-inning affairs, and in the first game, the Gators got another great start from Aidan King, who went 5.2 innings with seven strikeouts while giving up just four hits and one walk.

But it was still just a 2-0 game heading into the 6th inning when Florida put together a three-run inning that featured a double from Justin Nadeau and a two-run RBI single from Bobby Boser.

Jake Clemente finished out the game and Florida won 5-0.

In game two, Luke McNeillie went four innings with just a solo home run as his blemish. Florida struggled to string runners together through the first three innings but did take a 2-1 lead off a Blake Cyr two-run shot.

In the 5th inning, Florida had runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out and a chance to create daylight, but Nadeau was thrown out at home on a comebacker, and Brendan Lawson struck out to end the threat.

Missouri came right back and hit another solo shot in the 6th inning to make it 2-2.

But Lawson was able to make amends and in the bottom of the 7th, he came up with the bases loaded and one out. Missouri had brought in five infielders but it didn't matter. Lawson roped a single down the right-field line for the walk-off win.

The win moves Florida to 24-14 overall and 4-11 in SEC play. Even with the two wins, the Gators are still 31st in RPI.

Florida will have a midweek game against Stetson before a massive series against Mississippi State next weekend.
