Viral Florida fan symbolic of mismatch against Prairie View

Even Florida's fans have more size that Prairie View

Coming into its opening game against Prairie View A&M, Florida was favored by 35.5 points. And seven minutes in, the Panthers were hanging around, and a vision of what Siena did to Duke started to creep into the heads of Gator fans.

But then Florida’s size took over, and a viral fan in the stands became symbolic of how Florida covered that massive spread by halftime and had one of the largest halftime leads in NCAA Tournament history.

Florida fan goes viral as Gators run away

After the Panthers hit their 5th three-pointer to tie the game at 15, Florida asserted its dominance and went into halftime with a 60-21 lead. At the core of Florida’s dominance was what we suspected would be the case coming into the game:

Prairie View had zero size to offer, even the faintest amount of resistance to Florida in the paint. The Gators shot 24/32 overall in the first half, 21/25 on two-point shots.

Quickly, the most interesting component of the first half became a fan in the stands, the TNT camera found, who looked like he started lifting weights while still in the womb. He also becomes the second swol Florida fan to go viral, with former Gator guard Riley Kugel’s dad having gone viral a couple of years back for having a similar physique.

Florida’s first-half dominance is a reminder of why the floor for the Gators is sky high, because if a team runs out of size, they quickly have zero ability to contain Florida. And if you have a friend who went to bed early and they need a five-second summary of what happened in Tampa, this viral fan is a perfect symbol for how the Panthers had zero chance

Florida’s 39-point halftime lead is tied for the second-largest lead a team has ever had at an NCAA Tournament game.
