One area Florida has done well in over the past few years when it comes to talent acquisition has been at wide receiver. How those wide receivers have been used is a different story, but it feels like every year the Gators are bringing a trio of speedy and dynamic receivers.
With the Gators looking firmly at the class of 2028 at the moment, they appear to be making headway on one of the more dynamic receivers from this class.
Florida is getting closer to landing Tyree Mannings Jr.
Tyree Mannings Jr. is a wide receiver out of Sarasota. Listed at 6’0” and 170 pounds, Mannings is a top 50 prospect with ESPN, a top 100 with 247, and is just a three-star with Rivals.
On film, there is no chance he stays outside the top 200 with Rivals. Given his size, one would expect Mannings to be fast, and he delivers on this front. He has the type of speed that can turn a basic slant or bubble screen into a touchdown if opposing defenders take one step in the wrong direction.
But what stands out with Mannings is that he isn’t just a generic fast guy on the field. He has some real catch in traffic abilites and perhaps even more impressive is that despite his size, teams can’t seem to bring him down even if they do get their hands on him. His balance and coordination to stay upright pop instantly on film, especially considering he was just a high school sophomore when he did it.
He finished the 2025 high school season with 84 catches for 1,429 yards and helped Venice High to the state semifinals.
He was first offered by Florida back in January of 2025, and he has had offers from seemingly everyone you could think of since. But Florida has seemingly been able to separate itself from the pack, and he has gotten three predictions from Rivals/GatorsOnline that have him landing in Gainesville, including one on Monday from Corey Bender.
Mannings would be a very exciting player for Sumrall to land and would start to create some serious momentum for Florida’s class of 2028, especially once the rankings from Rivals catch up.
