As the dust has mostly settled on the class of 2025 for Florida Football, the incoming crop of freshmen is headlined by two five-star wide receivers. Vernell Brown III committed to Florida back in July, while Dallas Wilson had quite the saga and flipped his commitment to Oregon even after signing day.

But sandwiched between those two commitments was a somewhat under-the-radar commitment, and he hopes to have his say in Gainesville before all is said and done.

Florida Football: The future is now

During the week of practice for the Under Armour All-America Game, Naeshaun Montgomery kept having his name pop up as someone opposing defensive backs were having a nightmare trying to cover.

Montgomery committed to Florida back in August, and despite a slew of late visits to other schools, he stuck with his commitment to Florida and signed in December.

During the All-America Game itself, Montgomery had two catches, one of which was a touchdown, and caught a two-point conversion. Both the touchdown and the celebration itself highlight what is possible if Montgomery can reach his full potential.

Last year, he went to state in the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles, placing 8th in the latter. That combination of speed and body control shows up on his senior year film, and he is an athletic dude who can make tough catches in traffic. We wouldn't say he is a pure speedster, but he does have stop-and-go potential that gave defenses fits.

With Brown and Wilson also coming to town, Florida has a talented crop of freshmen at wide receiver, and on paper, the Gators will probably need at least one of them to step up in 2025. It's easy to gloss over Montgomery given that On3 and 247 both have him as a three-star, but the upside is there for him to be the one who emerges when all his said and done.
