The Florida Gators probably aren't going to be in the upcoming AP Top 25 poll and frankly, they shouldn't be after a 27-8 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in a game that wasn't as close as the score indicates.

Blowout losses are almost guaranteed to be heavily punished by the voters. It's happened to Florida twice before already this season and the third time should have the same results. As for the Bulldogs, they are one step closer to the top.

The SEC is in a good spot heading into the first CFP rankings

This is the last AP Top 25 poll we really need to care about because the real stuff happens on Tuesday when the CFP initial rankings drop. I don't have the Gators in the AP Top 25, but it wouldn't completely shock me if they were in the No. 25 spot in the initial rankings. Those first rankings are always a little weird and, if we're being honest, they are pretty friendly to the SEC. Friendly enough to put Georgia at No. 1? It's certainly possible that the Bulldogs jump the Miami Hurricanes on Tuesday. Would anyone be surprised to see that?

If the CFP follows my predicted poll, then the SEC will have five teams in the initial top 12. I think that's a pretty good bet, although I'm not totally sold that Ole Miss will make that first top 12. There's a good chance the Rebels could get jumped by Texas Tech and Wake Forest in those first rankings. Perception is everything, and I do think that the committee is a little worried about the optics of an SEC heavy rankings release on the network that is contractually obligated to love on the conference.

As for the rest of the conference, I feel confident in saying that South Carolina will be the highest ranked 3-loss team in the land. Everything else is up in the air with this crazy college football season.
