Todd Golden is trying to turn the Florida Gators frontcourt into college basketball's version of The Avengers.
The Gators received a commitment from Slovenian forward Domen Petrović as Golden continues to add more to the Gators already imposing group of forwards that includes possibly two 2027 first-round picks in Thomas Haugh and Alex Condon.

The 6'9, 22-year-old power forward averaged 16.4 points, 6.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists for KK Šenčur in Slovenia, shooting 39% from three.

Petrovic joins a recruiting group that includes Lithuanian big-man shooter Arturas Butajevas, who committed to Florida last week. With Haugh and Condon already returning, the additions of Petrovic and Butajevas will make up for the likely loss of Rueben Chinyelu to the NBA and the transfer of popular center Micah Handlogten.
The 22-year-old Petrovic should bring a lot to the table. He averaged 16.7 points and 6.9 rebounds last season at KK Šenčur in Slovenia. He should be a threat as a perimeter shooter after hitting 39 percent on 3-pointers with his European club last year. At 22, he should be accelerated in his basketball IQ and the 3.6 assists and 1.5 steals per game tell me that Petrovic has the ability to fill the scoresheet in a number of ways.
Todd Golden is playing for keeps at Florida in 2026-27
The Gators coach wants to win a championship in 2027, and he's going all in on what will likely be the final year of Haugh and Condon playing together. Both Petrovic and Butajevas have club and some national team experience. They played against some good competition and playing in the SEC or playing in tight tournament games shouldn't feature a moment that's too big for them to handle.
The Florida frontcourt was already the best in the entire country last season - national DPOY, #1 rebounding team in the nation.

And they might be even better in 2026/27. Returning their trio (likely) + added depth, craft & versatility from around the world.

Last season, the Gators had major advantages in size and defense. Those advantages helped Florida become the best team in the country for the second half of the season. But the lack of clutch perimeter shooting eventually caught up with them in the tournament and when they needed a big shot from outside 12-feet, there wasn't that one guy that Golden could really turn to.
Now he's got some big shooters on the floor to compliment his returning superstars, and they will have the ability to go big and still space the floor and force teams to respect the outside shooter. This is a roster that is all-in on winning a fourth national championship for the program.
