Three things Florida Football fans should know about FSU QB Luke Kromenhoek
Ahead of their matchup with Florida Football, FSU is officially turning to their third QB of the season as Mike Norvell announced the Seminoles will be putting freshman Luke Kromenhoek under center on Saturday.
Florida fans have plenty of reason to feel confident heading into this weekend, but here are three things they should know about FSU's QB.
The Gators offered Kromenhoek, but he never visited
If you go through the 247 timeline for Kromenhoek, it feels obvious he was always going to wind up in Tallahassee. Kromenhoek committed to FSU in March of 2022, and he never really wavered from that commitment.
The Gators extended an offer in June of 2022, but after DJ Lagway committed in December of 2022, there was zero need to keep going after Kromenhoek.
In fact, according to his timeline, Kromenhoek never made an official visit anywhere except FSU.
Kromenhoek beat Lagway at Elite 11
Back in June of 2023, when Lagway "struggled" at the Elite 11 camp, he tweeted out "When those pads get on we gone see who REALLY liked that."
One of the QBs who finished ahead of Lagway at the 7 v 7 showcase was Kromenhoek. 247 noted coming out of the camp:
"There were some peaks and valleys with Kromenhoek, but he ended things on a strong note Friday as he connected on three breaking routes over the middle for touchdowns. Kromenhoek, who was playing wide receiver not too long ago, was one of the best in the group when it comes to operating on the move and is full of potential given his frame and velocity."
Kromenhoek has struggled with the pads on
Unlike Lagway, when DJ Uiagalelei went out for the season with a broken finger, Kromenhoek was not the first QB FSU turned to. They instead opted for three-star QB Brock Glenn who spent the bulk of the year looking like a three-star QB.
Also, unlike Lagway, when has Kromenhoek got in with the pads on, he has failed to wow anyone.
He finally got an extended look against Charleston Southern last week, and FSU fans seem pleased with how Kromenhoek did, but here is some food for thought:
Lagway had a higher QBR against Ole Miss than Kromenhoek had against Charleston Southern.
