After all of the adventures that Florida Baseball had during midweek games in 2024, it was nice to see the Gators cruise to a relatively easy 10-4 victory over Jacksonville on Tuesday night. After falling behind early 2-0, Florida used a big 5th inning to pull ahead for good.
The Gators are now 4-0 on the season as they prepare to face FAMU on Wednesday.
Florida has depth in their lineup in 2025
Last year the feeling with the Gators was that it was Jac Caglianone or bust to provide the offense for Florida. Tuesday night against Jacksonville was a far more balanced effort that paints a picture of what Florida could accomplish this year.
Brody Donay will continue to draw headlines as he has four home runs through four games, but everyone in the lineup for Florida had at least one hit with Justin Nadeau, a .395 hitter with Jacksonville last season, leading the way with three hits.
Bobby Boser has power too
Coming into the year, we had wondered if Colby Shelton would step up and fill the power void left behind by Caglianone. Shelton did have a homerun against Air Force and has a .931 OPS through four games.
And while the previously mentioned Donay continues to light up scoreboards, Bobby Boser is proving his worth too in Gainesville as a viable power hitter.
Boser, a Wesley Chapel native, transferred from USF, where he hit 12 home runs in 2024 in a shorted 34-game campaign.
He had his second home run of the season on Tuesday, a three-run shot that gave Florida a 3-2 lead. Through four games he has a .412 batting average and a 1.298 OPS.

Don't forget about Alex Philpott in 2025
Last year, the freshman pitcher was just a guy for the Gators, who struggled to get clean innings out of the bullpen.
But in his first outing of the 2025 campaign, Philpott looked dominant as he pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning with two strikeouts off just 12 pitches.
