The Florida Gators are set to take on Ole Miss on Saturday in Oxford. Florida needs to win out in order to make a bowl game, while Ole Miss is trying to essentially lock up a playoff berth.

There are plenty of notable storylines to follow in this game, and these are three of the most notable.

How long of a leash will DJ Lagway get?

Against Kentucky, DJ Lagway had a meltdown that was so bad he got benched in the second half in favor of freshman Tramell Jones. Even with Jones, the offense never got a spark as Florida suffered its worst loss to Kentucky since 1950.

Interim coach Billy Gonzales has made it seem like Lagway is still going to get the start against Ole Miss, but he has left the door open for Lagway to get pulled again if needed.

The question is, how long of a leash will Lagway be given? One interception? Two?

And if he gets pulled again, will it be the last of Lagway we have seen in a Gator uniform?

Can Florida play spoiler once again to Ole Miss?

Beating Ole Miss was probably the highlight of the 2024 season as the Gators knocked the Rebels out of playoff contention.

This year it gets a little trickier trying to project whether or no a loss would knock Ole Miss out of the playoffs or whether they still have a loss to play with.

As it stands right now, Ole Miss is No. 7. But given the state of the ACC, it's No. 10 Texas that holds the final at-large bid.

Ole Miss does have a massive advantage in that it has the head-to-head win against No. 11 Oklahoma, and Texas does have to play Georgia this week, so even if Ole Miss slips up, we can't imagine they would fall behind Oklahoma.

The Lane Kiffin Bowl will be decided after the final whistle

Let's be honest and state that the real winner of this game is going to happen long after the final whistle. Rumors continue to swirl on whether or not Lane Kiffin is going to stay at Ole Miss, and he hasn't done much to squash those rumors.

Add in the fact that Ole Miss insiders are starting to lean towards Kiffin coming to Florida, and the focus of the Lane Kiffin Bowl won't be what is happening on the field this Saturday.
