If things go according to plan, Saturday's contest between Florida and Long Island University shouldn't be close. The Gators are favored by 45.5 points, and even that may be too low of a spread.
But after an entire offseason of speculative talk, we will start to get some real answers about the Gators.
These are the three biggest storylines to watch on Saturday that will drive the Sunday conversation.
Who follows DJ Lagway after he leaves the game?
The topic of backup QB has been relevant all offseason given the health status of DJ Lagway and the realization that there is a good chance Florida will need to use its QB2 at some point this year.
Billy Napier has hinted that all three of Florida's other QBs (Harrison Bailey, Aidan Warner, and Tramell Jones) have rotated and split reps throughout camp, and he has been mum on who has the leg up.
But the man who comes out next after Lagway is going to tell us a lot, and as long as that guy has a decent day, then QB2 will be that guy's job to keep until further notice.
How high up the depth chart is Vernell Brown III?
With all the focus and headlines on Dallas Wilson this offseason, it's easy to forget that Florida has another five-star WR in Vernell Brown III.
The hype train for Brown hasn't been at the level it has been for some others. But thanks to some injuries, there is a very real pathway for Brown to be a starter on Saturday, or at least next in line to rotate.
And if Brown makes a big play or two, he might cement himself as a key cog for 2025.
Will the offense showcase anything different compared to the past three years?
It's no secret at this point what Billy Napier's base offense is going to look like. Florida utilizes three wide receivers and one tight end almost 2/3 of the time, and has two tight ends the other 1/3 of the time. There is always some type of motion, which has varying degrees of success, and if the Gators line up in the pistol set, they are almost always going to run the ball.
By LSU, we will have our definitive answer as to whether Napier is doing anything different in 2025, but if Florida comes out in a four-wide receiver look at all on Saturday, it will be a giant talking point come Sunday.
