‘Florida Boys stay hot’ continued to be the motto for the No. 12 Gators baseball team this weekend as they swept a weekend series of Kennesaw State with a 12-9 win on Sunday to improve to 7-1 on the season.

Sunday’s matchup was not at all Florida’s best game, but they did what they needed to do to outlast the Owls. First baseman Ethan Surowiec led the Florida offense in RBIs Sunday, going 2-for-5 with four RBIs and a run scored. That included an RBI double in the second and a ground-out that included an RBI and an unearned run in the fifth. In the sixth, he hit an RBI single up the middle that advanced Cash Strayer and scored Brendan Lawson.

Surowiec led the Gators’ offense as a whole all weekend as the right-handed sophomore combined to go 6-for-11, driving in nine total RBIs this weekend (four Friday, one Saturday, four Sunday) and three runs scored.

Defensively he was also perfect, going 21-for-21 on putouts on the weekend as he continues to really make a name for himself this season.

Kyle Jones was 1-for-2 Sunday with two RBIs; Lawson, Karson Bowen, and Strayer each drove in an RBI, along with Stanford and Miller. They scored in seven straight innings (second through the eighth) to complete just their second come-from-behind win of the 2026 season.

The Gators have now won seven straight games and with this series victory they have now won eight-straight series dating back to 2025 and have won a total of 24 of their last 30 regular-season games since 2025.

Florida pitchers have combined for a 2.35 ERA and 22 strikeouts over the course of 15 1/3 innings.

The Gators will have a day off on Monday before they welcome FIU to Gainesville for a two-game series beginning Tuesday at 6:30PM.
