The "Fire Billy" roars cry out on social media once again

The Gator roars were a little quieter last week after Florida beat Texas. But after the Gators lost to Texas A&M on Saturday, the requests of the fans became louder once again as fans call for Napier's firing.

Last week, though Gators fans were still team “Fire Billy,” a win over Texas out-roared the calls for Napier’s firing. However, after a 34-17 loss to Texas A&M on Saturday, the chants of “Fire Billy” have resumed and continue to get louder with every loss.

The Gators ran for 157 yards in the first quarter and did not pass 139 yards in the remainder of the game.

The fact of the matter is, Florida is 2-4 to begin the season for the first time since 1988 under head coach Galen Hall, and Florida fans are furious and continue to lose more and more hope in Billy Napier the longer Scott Strickland keeps him. And the fans continued to make their disappointment and frustration known in their post-game reactions after Florida’s loss to Texas A&M.

“In All Kinds of Weather” pointed out a couple of important notes: The Gators are 21-23 (under .500) in the Napier tenure; Napier is the third head football coach the Gators have gone through in nine years, a stat no team should have to mention.

In his post-game press conference Napier noted that the team was competitive, and in the first half they were, but fans, probably disrespectfully, thought otherwise about the entirety of the second half. They scored just three points in the second half.

One fan stated the Gators will never go to the playoffs with that “content” attitude regarding the Gators’ competitiveness, and it’s probably true. Napier always seems content in his responses and doesn’t make fans believe he cares.

One account pointed out that Napier is 0-14 in games in which Florida has played a ranked opponent outside of Gainesville.

Knowing that the Florida boosters have a hand in decisions, some fans are calling on the boosters to pay out Napier to get him to leave. It’s been reported that it would be cheaper for the Gators to finish out the season and fire Napier during the offseason, but fans do not wait that long to turn things around and make the Gators a team to watch.
