Starter from beginning of the year for Florida Football hits transfer portal
The transfer portal continues to be filled out with members from Florida Football as the Gators try to figure out what their roster will look like for 2025.
Three more Gators entered the portal yesterday, including one who was a starter at the beginning of the year but was eventually cycled out by the end of the year.
Florida Football: Carry On
Arlis Boardingham emerged last year as a pass-catching tight-end option for Florida. He had seven catches against Vanderbilt, five against South Carolina, and four against Arkansas as part of a 26-catch season for 289 yards and four touchdowns.
There was hope coming into 2024 that Boardingham could take a step forward and be a legitimate receiving threat to mix in with Florida's offense, and he was a starter against Miami to open the season.
Boardingham had five catches against Texas A&M and had a touchdown against Tennessee, but his overall usage took a noticeable dip after Florida's second bye week. He took less than 20 snaps against Texas, LSU, and Ole Miss and didn't take a snap against FSU.
At the core of what hurt Boardingham was the perception his blocking wasn't up to par, and Billy Napier started using Hayden Hansen and Tony Livingston far more frequently.
Boardingham was part of the class of 2022 and was a composite three-star prospect, though 247 and ESPN did have him as a four-star. He was recruited by Napier shortly after Napier was hired, and Boardingham committed to Florida in February of 2022.
Boardingham will still have two years of eligibility remaining. He joins offensive lineman Christian Williams and wide receiver Brian Green as two more members to hit the portal.
