Florida enters this weekend’s showdown looking to recover from whatever it was that happened at Missouri this past weekend. Waiting in the wings is a South Carolina squad where Shane Beamer might just be coaching to save his job on Saturday.

The Gamecocks are two touchdown underdogs, but they are not an untalented team on paper, which is part of the reason why South Carolina fans are about over the Shane Beamer era. These are five notable players to keep an eye on this Saturday from the Gamecocks.

Five South Carolina players that Florida fans need to know

QB LaNorris Sellers, No. 16

If we rewind to the 2025 offseason, there was a ton of hype for DJ Lagway and for LaNorris Sellers, and for as much of a spotlight as there was on Lagway, a lot of people thought Sellers had a shot to be a top three SEC QB in 2025.

But Sellers didn’t use his legs nearly as much in 2025 as he did in 2024, and his production across the board took a dip. Despite South Carolina losing its last three games, Sellers has been decent enough, and last week against Kentucky, he did run for 148 yards.

He also had two fumbles.

Details.

RB Matt Fuller, No. 28

South Carolina’s offense as a whole has not been the problem, and the Gamecocks are No. 25 in points per game. RB Matt Fuller has been the lead back for South Carolina this year. The former lower-tier four-star is having a breakout year and already has 433 yards rushing with five TDs. He can also catch a bit out of the backfield and has 109 yards receiving through five games.

WR Mazeo Bennett Jr., No. 3

The receiving core for South Carolina is a bit of a committee, with five receivers over 100 yards but no receivers over 210 yards. Right now, former four-star Mazeo Bennett Jr. is South Carolina's top receiver. The Gamecocks also have former class of 2023 five-star prospect Nyck Harbor, and while he has been targeted 29 times, he has just 13 receptions on the season.

EDGE Dylan Stewart, No. 6

One of the reasons why South Carolina has been a bit of a circus this year has been the drama with Dylan Stewart. He was a legit top-ten prospect for the 2027 NFL Draft prior to the season, but he had a back injury in 2025 that caused him to essentially miss the entire offseason and the first two games of the 2026 season.

He came back against Mississippi State and only played 14 snaps. Then he played 29 snaps against Alabama, but threw a punch and was suspended last week against Kentucky.

DL Tomiwa Durojaiye, No. 13

The defense as a whole for South Carolina is essentially as bad as Florida’s defense. Along the interior of the defensive line though, they do have Tomiwa Durojaiye, who has been causing some problems for teams in the B gap.

He is a former three-star who first signed with Kentucky, but he is on his 5th team in five seasons of college football.
