Sherrone Moore’s downfall makes these Florida natives names to bookmark now

Could these Florida natives want to come home with the chaos at Michigan?

The college football world was rocked on Wednesday when Michigan Wolverines coach Sherrone Moore was invited to leave following an investigation that deemed he had an “inappropriate relationship” with a staff member. Moore compounded his problems and was arrested later on Wednesday night.

Moore’s departure is almost guaranteed to trigger an exodus from Ann Arbor once the transfer portal opens. And while we don’t expect someone like former five-star QB Bryce Underwood to make his way to Gainesville, there are four players on Michigan’s roster from Florida who still have eligibility who would be worth keeping an eye on should they opt to hit the portal.

Jamar Browder

The Jacksonville native was a mid-tier three-star prospect coming out of high school. He played sparingly this year, which was his true freshman campaign, taking 55 snaps but did not record a single catch.

But Browder is listed at 6’5” and 215 pounds and did take an unofficial visit with the Gators during his recruiting process. If the new staff is looking for a taller threat, Browder might be worth taking a look at.

Troy Bowles

Probably the most notable Florida native on Michigan’s roster, Troy Bowles is the son of Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles and attended Tampa Jesuit High School. Troy Bowles was a top 100 overall prospect coming out of high school as part of the class of 2023, but he hasn’t quite lived up to his full billing.

Bowles started his college career at Georgia, but transferred to Michigan after taking just 46 snaps over two years in Athens. Bowles took 199 snaps this season in Ann Arbor, but struggled with tackling at times and had a high missed tackle rate.

Jake Guarnera

The Ponte Vedra Beach native was the starting right guard for Michigan from week three and beyond. His recruiting profile wasn’t super high as he was just a mid-tier three-star, but he did have Florida in his final five, and he did take an unofficial visit in 2023.

We wouldn’t say he had a dominant season in 2025, but he only allowed two sacks and he still has three seasons of eligibility left.

James Kavouklis

The long snapper from Berkeley Prep in Tampa never really saw action at Michigan during his four years in Ann Arbor. Is he any good? Who knows, but Florida is going to need a new long snapper for 2026 with Rocco Underwood graduating, and the only other long snapper on the roster right now is freshman Mack Mulhern (who was rated the No. 2 LS coming out of high school).
