We are already to week three of the college football season, and Florida will get to start its own stretch of nine SEC games, starting with Auburn this Saturday.
And while Florida fans will obviously be glued to the game against the Tigers, there are ten other games involving SEC teams this Saturday. These are the games you should for sure watch and the games you can skip.
Florida Fans Week Three SEC Watch Guide
10. Kennesaw State at No. 15 Tennessee: 7:45 p.m., SEC Network, Tennessee -35.5.
We are still a bit salty that Florida doesn’t get to play Tennessee this year, but given that this game is on during Florida’s game, there is essentially no reason to actually watch this one.
9. Troy at No. 20 Missouri: 7 p.m., SECN+, Missouri -26.5.
The fact that this game starts at the exact same time as Florida, isn’t expected to be close, and is on SEC+ makes this an auto skip unless the former home of Jon Sumrall starts doing something crazy. The only reason this gets ahead of Tennessee is that Florida does play Missouri this year.
8. New Mexico at No. 24 Oklahoma: 7:30 p.m., ESPN2, Oklahoma -22.5.
There will be a hint of national intrigue just because people want to see if Oklahoma can bounce back from its loss to Michigan last week. And Florida’s game against Oklahoma later in the year could be one of the more pivotal matchups. But given its time slot compared to Florida’s game, this is lower on the list.
7. UTSA at No. 1 Texas: 8 p.m., SECN+, Texas -30.5.
Following their dramatic win last week, Texas is set to take on UTSA. This game won’t be close, but it might still be on after Florida’s game finishes to let fans catch the 4th quarter if things are still close.
6. Kentucky at No. 9 Texas A&M: 3:30 p.m., ESPN, Texas A&M -16.5.
Kentucky showcased last week that it is not ready for primetime after getting smacked by Alabama. But Will Stein is trying to run a more high flying offense, and the Wildcats have time to figure things out prior to Florida’s late season meeting.
5. No. 2 Georgia at Arkansas: Noon, ABC, Georgia -24.5.
The timeslot is the only thing that bumps this game up on the list because Arkansas is awful and this one could be over by halftime if Georgia gets things rolling.
4. No. 7 LSU at No. 8 Ole Miss: 7:30 p.m., ABC, LSU -3.
If Florida didn’t have a game this week, LSU at Ole Miss would be the clear-cut game everyone would be watching. And frankly, around the country, this is the one game everyone will be talking about. Throw in that Florida plays Ole Miss next week, and there are plenty of reasons to watch this one. The problem is that it is during the same time as Florida’s game. It is worth a second screen, though.
3. Mississippi State at South Carolina: 4:15 p.m., SEC Network, South Carolina -4.
This could become one of the sneaky games of the day, and Florida does play South Carolina next month. The mystery is whether or not South Carolina is any good this season. The one potential problem with this game is the finale could be taking place right when Florida kicks off.
2. NC State at Vanderbilt: 12:45 p.m., SEC Network, Vanderbilt -3.5.
To this point, Vanderbilt has not recaptured their magic from last year, but they are starting five-star QB Jared Curtis. This game will also serve as a litmus test for the SEC and ACC, and Florida fans will be intrigued as to whether or not they need to worry about Vanderbilt later in the season.
1. Florida State at No. 10 Alabama: 3:30 p.m., ABC, Alabama -19.5.
This might not be the most competitive game of the day, but the chance to hate-watch FSU during a prime-time slot is too much to resist. And if somehow FSU pulls off the upset once again, the meltdown from Alabama fans will be too much to resist. Either way, it’s a win-win for Gator fans leading right into Florida’s own game.
