It's been an up-and-down month for Florida Women's Basketball. The Gators started out 3-0 before a four-game losing streak put a damper on the expectations for the season.

But hoping to mimic the dominance the men had in the SEC/ACC Basketball Challenge, the Gators took on Clemson on the road, and Florida did its part to help the SEC win the crown in women's hoops.

Florida Basketball: 5-4

One big surge was what it took for Florida to go ahead for good. The Gators emerged from the 1st quarter tied at 13, with both teams working off feeling the other out.

But it was a 19-8 second quarter that gave Florida an 11-point halftime lead. Eight of their points came off of Clemson turnovers, and Jeriah Warren had seven of her 14 points in the 2nd quarter.

In the second half, it was Liv McGill's turn to take over as she scored 18 of her game-high 21 points in the second half. Clemson turned up their scoring in the third quarter to try and mount a comeback, but McGill's ten points in the third quarter were part of a 25-point third quarter for the Gators.

Clemson was within five points with six minutes to play, but Florida went on a run, and by the time McGill hit a three-pointer with three minutes left, the Gators boosted their lead back to 14.

The SEC's domination of the ACC on the women's side wasn't as lopsided as the men's, which was 14-2, but the conference still went 10-6 in the challenge to win it on both sides.

Florida is now 5-4 on the season and 170th in RPI but 58th in the NCAA NET ranking. Their next game will be against Marshall on Sunday at 2 PM.
