As spring camp opens for Florida Football, the one unit that is expected to look mostly the same in 2025 as it did in 2024 is the offensive line. Four of the five starters by the end of the season are back this year, and the hope is that their continuity will help propel them to be one of the better offensive lines in the SEC.
But the unit's one mystery was who would replace Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at right tackle, and on Thursday, Billy Napier clarified who is getting the nod to open spring camp.
Florida Football: Lovett Is In The Air
Napier announced at his press conference that Bryce Lovett would be starting spring camp as the starting right tackle. Lovett played as a rotational guard last season, playing on both the left and right side of the line.
He started against Texas and FSU and took 290 snaps on the season. He gave up six total pressures with one sack during the 2024 season.
Lovett came to Florida as part of the class of 2023 but was a lower-rated three-star prospect who redshirted in 2023. He worked his way into the rotation last season and is set to fight for a starting job in 2025. As spring camp opens, Lovett will be a redshirt sophomore in 2025, and he is listed at 6'5" and 326 pounds.
He looks to slot in on a unit that finished 58th in sack percentage at 5.99%. That was an improvement from their sack percentage of 9.38% in 2023.
As we learned last year, Napier and crew are prone to shuffle the line as the offseason progresses. Prior to the Miami game, the Gators inserted Kamryn Waites at the last moment at right tackle before quickly pulling the plug and going with Crenshaw-Dickson.
