It wasn’t all bad for Florida during the 2025/26 athletics season. Even though the Gators failed to win a national title in any sport for the first time in over a decade, there were still moments that gave Florida fans plenty to cheer about.
As is the annual tradition, the SEC Network is dedicating Monday to the Gators' takeover. Here are our rankings of the games the network will show, from least impactful to the most exciting moment of the year.
Florida to be featured on SEC Network all day Monday
Soccer vs Mississippi State (2-1 win)
In a vacuum, soccer’s win over then No. 12 Mississippi State was a good win for the Gators, as it was part of a seven-game unbeaten streak. But the Bulldogs would eventually be bounced in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, and head coach Samantha Bohon was fired at the end of the season, having failed to piece together a three-game winning streak at any point during her tenure.
SEC Track and Field Championships (Florida’s women capture SEC title)
For the record, the previously mentioned national title streak had been sustained largely by track and field. But often, Florida showed little interest in the SEC championships to optimize their chances at nationals. So while this was a great win for the women’s program, Florida’s goals have never been centered around the SEC meet.
Men’s Basketball vs Arkansas (111-77 win)
In terms of making a statement, this was one of the more impressive wins the Gators had on the year as seven players from Florida finished in double figures for scoring. It terms of a game you would actually want to sit down and watch the whole way through, there are better options on the list.
Football vs Texas (29-21 win)
This game could and probably should go higher if we take it in a vacuum. This was the one game we got to see Dallas Wilson at full strength, and it was the reason Texas didn’t make the playoffs in 2025. But knowing Billy Napier did everything he could to throw this game away, along with the fact that Napier was fired two weeks later, it’s hard to rank this game higher.
Baseball vs Miami (22-10)
If we ignore what came next, the beatdown of Miami in the NCAA Tournament was one of the cathartic moments of the year for Gator fans. What sours this moment are the two losses that followed against Troy.
Volleyball vs Pittsburgh (3-2 win)
This is one where the actual game itself was great and was a five-set thriller. And considering Pittsburgh would go on to make the Final Four, this was a great win by the Gators. The problem is that, kind of like soccer’s win over Mississippi State and football’s win over Texas, the 2025 season for volleyball went south after this win, and it’s really the only reason it’s not higher on the list.
Softball vs Tennessee (5-2 win)
The year didn’t end well for Florida, with its loss in the Super Regionals to Texas Tech, but one of the reasons the ending felt disappointing was the ceiling Florida showcased when it took the series from Tennessee, including the 5-2 win that will be shown.
Men’s Basketball vs. Alabama (100-77 win)
Like the win over Arkansas, the game itself wasn’t that close, and this won’t be the most pulsating on the list. But this one does get the bump because of the backdrop with Charles Bediako and Florida’s beatdown of the G-League dropout.
Football vs. FSU (40-21 win)
Another case where the game wasn’t close and the season was already lost, but this one does get a bit of a bump because watching Jadan Baugh run wild over FSU is never going to get old, and it really set the stage for why Jon Sumrall went out of his way to retain Baugh for 2026.
Lacrosse vs Colorado (9-7 win)
Florida had to pull away in the 4th quarter in this one, and while lacrosse doesn’t tend to get the love of some other programs on campus, it has morphed into one of the more consistent teams Florida has under its roof.
Gymnastics (SEC title)
Probably the most intense competition Florida faced all year, this was a pressure-packed meet where the Gators had to scrap and claw their way past Oklahoma for the SEC title. Even though things didn’t go Florida’s way at the national championships, this was probably the highlight moment for Florida during the 2025/26 athletic year.
