Zero Florida Gators make EA Sports College Football 25 Top 100 Players List
By Joseph Baker
Well, the list is out, and no Gators made it. Zilch. Zero. Nada. None.
The SEC has 29 players represented on the list, the best being LSU's Will Campbell (96 OVR). Alabama and Georgia lead the conference with six players on the list.
According to EA's website, "Rosters and ratings are subject to change in future title updates," so there is a chance we see some Gators crack this list if the team plays well in the fall. We'll find out Florida's full roster and their ratings in just about a week when the game comes out to the public.
My prediction for Florida's highest-rated players:
1. Jason Marshall (CB)
2023 wasn't the greatest for Jason Marshall. He entered the year as a potential first round draft pick in the NFL and ended it needing to return for another year of college ball. But we also know EA Sports has Florida as a top 25 defense and thus Marshall should get a decent bump in his rating.
2. Montrell Johnson (RB)
For all the gloom and doom of Trevor Etienne leaving, Montrell Johnson is still with the Gators and was 10th in the SEC in rushing yards in 2023 with 817 yards. He was also 4th in yards per attempt in the SEC among players who had at least 150 attempts in 2023.
3. Shemar James (LB)
Prior to his injury thanks to the terrible turf in Jacksonville, Shemar James was having a nice season and had the second best missed tackle rate on the team behind only Jordan Castell. If he is fully healed from his dislocated kneecap, watch for James to have a breakout season nationally.
4. Graham Mertz (QB)
He may not have come to Gainesville with much fanfare, but Graham Mertz had a solid season with the Gators in 2023. He led the SEC in completion percentage and was 5th in QB rating among those who had at least 250 passing attempts.
5. Tre Wilson (WR)
Given the amount of hype Wilson has been getting this offseason as he gets ready to be Florida's lead wide receiver, Tre Wilson is the type of player who could be a sneaky weapon in online modes of the game for fans of any team. He will probably be the core player Gator fans use to get through the first season of dynasty while building Florida's talent pool.
