Sunday was a good day for Florida Football. Not only did Gator fans get to continue to troll FSU fans for their debacle in Ireland, but Florida also picked up another high-priority recruit for their class of 2025.

As such, Florida is continuing to creep up the rankings with a potential light at the end of the tunnel.

Florida Football: Moving On Up

Naeshaun Montgomery announced his commitment to Florida on Sunday. The wide receiver out of West Palm Beach is listed at 6'1" and 165 pounds. His ranking is all over the place as Rivals has him ranked 58th in the country, ESPN has him at 108th in the country, and On3 and 247 have him listed as a three-star.

With On3 in particular, Montgomery saw his ranking plummet after his junior year from 185th overall to a three-star. As a result, his composite ranking was as high as 64th overall, but he is now down to 185th following a 30-catch season for 451 yards in 2023.

When we reviewed his film back in March we said:

"His catch radius is solid and he has no trouble winning 50/50 balls or goal line fades. He is not a burner compared to other guys we have profiled, but he is shifty enough to make guys miss in open space."

With his commitment, Montgomery is the third wide receiver to commit to Florida for the class of 2025, joining Joshua Moore and Vernell Brown III. Moreso, Florida has moved into the top 25 in the 247 team rankings, coming in at 24th, and moved up to 19th in the On3 team rankings.

There is still work to be done, as Florida still has only 14 commits, and its average player rating is only ranked 18th. In particular, the Gators are in need of offensive line commits for the class and a top-level interior defensive lineman.

But as we have said before, a number of recruits appear to be in a wait-and-see mode with Florida, and if the Gators can get momentum on the field, it wouldn't be surprising to see momentum continue to build in recruiting.
