Florida football has been working overtime to get elite talent in the 2025 class on campus as they aim for one of the best recruiting classes in the country.

In two weeks, they'll host one of the nation's top edge rushers, and a top-50 overall player in the '25 cycle.

Jared Smith, a 4-star EDGE out of Hoover, Alabama, has scheduled an unofficial visit to Gainesville on February 3rd.

The Gators will be going head to head with some of the top schools in the SEC in Smith's recruitment, but he is well worth the effort it will take to land his signature.

Florida football: Dominant strenght and size

Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports has high praise for Smith, including this line that showed just how strong Jared is off the edge.

""...has elite features to work with as he’s a verified 6-foot-6.5, 225 pounds and has a near 82-inch wingspan to go along with 35.5-inch arms...Hulking frame tends to just overwhelm opposing offensive tackles as he wills his way into the backfield.""

Dominating oppoosing offensive linemen this early in his career is a promising sign for the schools going after him, and gives them a glimpse of what he can become at the college level.

On3's Industry Ranking has Jared rated as the 48th-best player in the country, the fifth-best edge rusher, and the 4th-best player coming out of Alabama. He's rated as highly as No. 11 overall and the top edge on 247 Sports.

Currently, Georgia is in the lead for Smith with a 42.7% chance to land him per On3's RPM, with the Gators in fourth at 11%, behind Auburn and Alabama.

Next weekend will be the third time that Smith has visited Gainesville, so he already has some familiarity with the campus and the coaches.

Jared is a big name to watch for in the 2025 class.
