Talking season is almost over for Florida Football and one of the final checkpoints during talking season is the release of the 247 Talent Composite ratings. The rankings are far from perfect, but they do paint a picture of how talented a team should be on paper.

And just like last season, Florida does have a better than advertised roster who, on paper, should feel confident against the bulk of their schedule.

Florida Football: Paper Champions

The Talent Composite looks primarily at the star rating players had coming out of high school. From there each roster is ranked by how talented they are on paper.

Florida comes in ranked 12th in the country in the Talent Composite, with four former five-stars, 48 former four-stars, and 32 former three-stars. Florida's rank is an upgrade from last season when they were ranked 15th in the country.

While Florida may not be among the elites in college football, they actually have a better roster on paper than eight of their 12 opponents in 2024.

Texas A&M and Ole Miss feel like the two teams most misplaced with their rankings. The Aggies have notoriously underachieved despite previously highly ranked classes while Ole Miss has raided the transfer portal for upperclassmen who are probably better than their original star ranking indicates.

But the other truth the Talent Composite reveals is something we have said all offseason and its that for as bad as Dan Mullen's recruiting was for the purpose of winning a national title, the cupboard isn't as bare in Gainesville as some have tried to claim. While Florida's roster has flaws, it isn't the Little Giants out there who can't be coached up into a winning season.

Florida opens their season next Saturday against Miami, who were 12th in the Talent Composite last season before stumbling to a 7-6 campaign.
