The theme for Florida Softball early in the 2024 season is that they are hammering weaker opponents to a pulp while the bats have stayed quiet against Power Five squads.

But even in their hammering of lower level teams, freshman pitcher Olivia Miller has managed to do something no one in program history has managed before.

Florida Softball: Perfection

Miller has been used as the third option this season behind fellow freshmen Keagan Rothrock and Ava Brown. She made three starts in 2024, with two of them being headline worthy.

She threw a perfect game against Bethune-Cookman during the first weekend of the season.

During the T-Mobile Invitational this past weekend, Florida took on Lafayette College. Miller faced 18 Leopards. All 18 Leopards went back to the dugout having recorded an out and when Florida pushed across its eighth run of the game in the sixth inning, it secured a run rule victory for the Gators and secured another perfect game for Miller.

Miller is now the first pitcher in Florida history to throw two perfect games in a single season.

Combined with Keagan Rothrock throwing a no hitter during the weekend and the Gators bats being on fire, Florida went 5-0 on the weekend, outscoring their opponents by a combined 66-1.

The Gators will now gear for a massive test in California starting on Thursday. Florida will take part in the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton. Florida's trip to California last season didn't go so great as the Gators left to the west coast undefeated and came back with three losses.

Of note, the Gators will get a rematch with Michigan as well as a matchup with UCLA while out west. They will also take on Cal State - Fullerton, Long Beach State, and DePaul. It will be the final non-conference slate of games for Florida before SEC play begins on March 9.
