For as disastrous as the 2023 season was for Florida Football and for as many moments that became memes, the Gators still didn't have a singular moment as bad as what happened to Miami last season against Georgia Tech. With the game literally won if they took a knee, Miami famously fumbled, enabling the Yellow Jackets to score a last-second victory.

The man behind the gaffe admits he needs a guide from his staff to make sure it never happens again.

Florida Football: Overwatch

Speaking at his press conference on Monday, Miami head coach Mario Cristobal admitted something most never thought a college football head coach for a Power Four school would admit: he has a time management coach on his staff.

"We have added a time management coach to always over harp on the situation."

He sandwiched his remark that last season, Miami "had a process in place" but just didn't follow it.

In one breath, Cristobal is adding someone to staff that a number of college staff could benefit from, and that is a "Madden" coach. Essentially, add someone who sits in the press box, drinks beer, and gets to buzz down three times a game to say, "Hey, listen to me right now." It sounds crazy, but how many times do we see coaches, Cristobal and Billy Napier included, screw up on basic decision-making that a guy like this would spot in a heartbeat?

But in another breath, if a man making $8 million a year over ten years needs to hire an extra staff member to remind him to take a knee, what else does he need his hand held to do? How does one ascend to be a Power Four head coach and be this woefully inept at game management?

Florida and Miami will square off at 3:30 on Saturday, and hopefully you don't need a time management coach to ensure you make it to your seat by kickoff.
