When we last checked in on Florida Baseball legend Wyatt Langford, he was coming off a monster stretch in the month of June and was poised to put the Texas Rangers on his back for a big run. That momentum has since cooled off, and Langford hit just .212 for the month of July, and early into August, he hit just .200 for the month.

And entering the 9th inning against Boston on Wednesday night, it was looking like that slump was going to continue.

But the magic of baseball is that sometimes it only takes one swing of the bat to get back in the good graces, and Langford made sure to make his mark by hitting one over one of the most iconic landmarks in all of sports.

Florida Baseball: Monster Mash

In the 8th inning, Langford had an errant throw from the outfield that enabled the Red Sox to score a run. The Rangers, who were the 2023 World Series champions, entered the top of the 9th down 7-4.

Texas had two runners on but also had two outs when Langford came to the plate. The rookie was 2-4 on the night when we stepped up, but it was his third hit of the night that was the most memorable.

Afterward, Langford told reporters, "I knew it was a home run off the bat, and I watched it just to make sure. It was really cool, especially in that situation and for us to end up winning the game, it was really cool."

Langford now has seven home runs on the season, a batting average of .242, and an OPS of .682. The Rangers are 56-65 and are 9.5 games back of the Houston Astros in the AL West and 10 games back of the Kansas City Royals for the final Wild Card spot.
