With the release of EA Sports' College Football 25 video game coming in just days, the ratings for Florida Gators players offer a glimpse into the team's real-life prospects for the upcoming season. These virtual assessments reflect not only individual talents but also the collective potential of the Gators under head coach Billy Napier.

Defense gets a boost

The Gators boast an impressive 87 overall defense rating, which was a bit of a surprise given their struggles on this side of the ball last season. Cornerback Jason Marshall Jr. stands out with an 89 overall rating, making him the highest-rated player on the team.

New additions and returning talents in the defense, like Shemar James (84) and Asa Turner (84), give Florida a solid foundation in the game. The Gators also have several other players rated in the high 70s and low 80s, including Cam Jackson, LJ McCray, Tyreak Sapp, Kelby Collins, and Jakeem Jackson.

Offense with plenty of emerging talents

The Gators' offense holds an 86 overall rating. Running back Montrell Johnson Jr. and center Jake Slaughter, both rated at 87, are pivotal in driving the offense in the game.

Receivers Eugene Wilson III (86) and Elijhah Badger (85) provide reliable targets for quarterback Graham Mertz, who is rated at 84. Additionally, true freshman quarterback DJ Lagway, rated 80, brings exciting potential to utilize him in special packages in the game.

Gators have plenty of speed

Speed is a notable asset for the Gators, particularly with true freshman receiver Tank Hawkins, who boasts a 97 speed ratingβ€”the highest on the team. Alongside Aidan Mizell (96) and TJ Abrams (95), Florida has a trio of lightning-fast players capable of stretching defenses and creating explosive plays.

Building a resilient squad

The Gators are going to be one of the more interesting teams to use in College Football 25. They won't be a juggernaut in the game and those looking for a dynasty rebuild will have work to do. But, with a top 25 defense and a plethora of sneaky weapons on offense, Florida should still be a resilient squad to use for those looking to play online
