Barring a dramatic collapse, Florida Basketball is probably going to make the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2021.

But as is the mantra in March, going deep in the tournament can be match up driven and there are four potential opponents who could show up in each round that would be a poor match up for the Gators and act as a road block.

First Round - South Florida

Bracketology has the Gators projected somewhere around a seven seed, so in theory the Gators will get to avoid any true juggernaut until the second round.

But if one has paid attention, USF is one of the hottest teams in the country and are continuing to bulldoze their way into the NCAA Tournament as a potential at large bid.

Joe Lunardi currently has USF as a potential 11 seed, so a Florida vs USF match up is in the realm of possibility for the Gators.

And as is often the case for the Gators, in state foes have this way of balling out when given the opportunity to face Florida.

It is a classic case of throw out any of the advanced metrics because this would not be a match up that would create any sense of safety for Gator fans.
