Four plays from Florida Football that have saved Billy Napier from getting fired

With some better fortune, Florida would have had a winning record the past two seasons. But just as easily, four plays the other way could have had Billy Napier already out the door.

USF Botches Snap On Game Tying Field Goal

After beating Utah, the vibes were high in Gainesville. Then Florida lost to Kentucky to bring it back down. Then Florida couldn't stop a Jeff Scott led USF team and almost lost to the Bulls in The Swamp.

Keeping in mind that Scott went 4-26 during his time with USF, a loss to the Bulls would have been disastrous. And they came within an eyelash of taking Florida to OT.

Beyond the fact Florida was losing with five minutes to play before Trevor Etienne scored the game winning touchdown, USF still had a chance to tie the game with less than a minute to play. The Bulls had gotten down to the 19 yard line before fumbling their way back to the 33.

On the game tying 49 yard field goal, USF again botched the snap, resulting in a wide right.

Had this game gone OT, I'm not sure Florida had an answer to stop USF from running the ball down their throats. If you think the Vanderbilt loss has been a blemish on Napier, trying being one of the five teams to lose to Scott over a three year span.
