Since leaving the Florida Gators for the NFL in 2020, punter Tommy Townsend has made a name for himself with the Kansas City Chiefs. He is already a two-time Super Bowl champion and, in 2022, was named to the Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro.

Now, with the Houston Texans, Townsend is already making a name for himself with fans after a clip of their preseason game against Pittsburgh has gone viral.

Florida Football: Catch The Ball

Normally, nothing of real excitement happens in a preseason game. Guys are fighting for their spots on the roster, but everyone who already knows they have made the team usually just goes through the motions, if they are playing at all.

Apparently, going through the motions isn't in Townsend's DNA. During their preseason game against Pittsburgh, Townsend launched a punt downfield that was muffed by the Steelers and recovered by the Texans.

Warning, some NSFW audio leaks out at the end of the clip.

Did you catch it?

Townsend can be heard at the top of his lungs giving the Steelers' returner the advice to "Catch the ball b****!"

Now, in reality, this is par for the course on an NFL or college field. There is a reason why leagues are leery of putting microphones too close to the field or why everyone's words have to be edited out when they do mic up a player for NFL Films.

The Texans are coming off an AFC South title in 2023 and, with CJ Stroud at quarterback, hope to defend that title in 2024. It's safe to say that even their punter is fired up for that quest.
