Former Florida Football star Ricky Pearsall honors first responders who aided him
When former Florida Football star Ricky Pearsall was drafted to the San Francisco 49ers, he was seen as another dynamic playmaker who would bolster an already loaded wide receiver group.
Unfortunately for Pearsall, his NFL debut was put on hold after he was shot in the chest during a failed robbery attempt two weeks ago.
But undeterred, Pearsall was still on the sidelines yesterday and made sure to thank those who helped save his life two weeks ago.
Florida Football: Unfazed
On August 31, Pearsall was at an autograph signing in San Francisco before he left and was walking through Union Square. A 17-year-old attempted to rob Pearsall for his watch, according to the BBC. During the struggle, Pearsall was shot in the chest, but the bullet missed his vital organs.
First responders on scene helped stabilize Pearsall, and he is expected to make a full recovery.
Pearsall was placed on the non-football injury list and, at minimum, has to miss four games. Prior to San Francisco's opening game on Monday night, though, Pearsall made sure to honor the first responders who arrived on scene to help save his life.
Also, in a sign that Pearsall is not backing down from the incident, he was back in the weight room 48 hours after being shot, and he was seen on the sideline wearing the watch that the 17-year-old tried to rob in the first place.
The 17-year-old has been charged with attempted murder. His identity has not been made known to the public.
