After a one year hiatus from the Women's College World Series, Florida Softball is heading back to Oklahoma City with a shot to win the national title for the first time since 2015.

Florida's pathway to the title is going to involve multiple teams the Gators are either familiar with from the past, or will be familiar with in the future.

Florida Softball: The Long And Winding Road

Florida will open their quest in Oklahoma City with a rematch against Oklahoma State. The two squads met earlier this season in Gainesville, with Oklahoma State winning 3-0. While few players are left over from Florida's 2022 WCWS squad, the teams also met that year in a winner's bracket match up, with Oklahoma State also winning that game.

The winner of that game will take on the winner of the Texas vs Stanford game. The Gators haven't crossed paths with the Longhorns since 2013 when Texas got the better of Florida to eliminate them from the WCWS. The two teams will start to see each other more once Texas joins to SEC next season.

Florida was in the same Regional as Stanford last season and were eliminated.

On the other side of the bracket is Oklahoma, Alabama, UCLA, and Duke. The Gators beat both Alabama and UCLA earlier this season and have a long tournament history going toe to toe with Oklahoma. This is the first time Duke has made it to the WCWS.

The format is double elimination for the first phase of the tournament, with the championship series being a best two-out-of-three.

Florida's first game will be at 9:30 PM eastern time on ESPN2.
