Florida Gator track stars Jasmine Moore and Grace Stark locked up their Olympic berth
The Olympic Trials for Team USA have come and gone and the Florida Gators will have five members from the squad, past and present, represent America in a month in Paris.
Grace Stark and Jasmine Moore finalized their bids for the Olympics over the weekend.
Florida Gators: To Paris We Go
Jasmine Moore already had a ticket to Paris secured from earlier in the meet. Moore had already qualified for the 2024 Olympics in the triple jump after winning the event and made history when she made a leap of 22'10.75 in the long jump to eventually come in second place.
Moore is now the first American woman to qualify for the Olympics in both the triple jump and the long jump. Moore hopes to improve upon her showing from the Tokyo Olympics when she finished in 12th in the triple jump.
Grace Stark however did not have a ticket locked up for the Olympics heading into the final day of competition on Sunday. The NCAA champion in the 100 meter hurdles entered the Olympic Trials with a personal best of 12.47 seconds.
After running a personal best of 12.45 seconds in the semi-final round, Stark improved again and ran 12.31 seconds to finish 3rd and claim her spot on Team USA.
In total the Gators will for sure have five members on team USA, with Grant Holloway, Anna Hall, and Malcolm Clemons also having a guaranteed spot for Paris.
Florida could add a sixth member if things shake out for distance star Parker Valby. After finishing 4th in the 5K and 2nd in the 10K there is a good chance she will be in Paris running one of those events, but she has to wait this week to see if her World Ranking will be good enough in the 10K or if Elle St. Pierre, who won the 5K, is going to opt to run the 1500 instead after coming in 3rd in the event on Sunday.
