Florida Football is still trying to claw its way up the recruiting rankings for its class of 2025. The Gators are currently ranked 20th in the On3 Industry Rankings and 31st in the 247 Team Rankings.

But we have seen in the past where Florida has done a great job of identifying talent who may not be ranked super high to begin with but wind up shooting up the rankings after a monster senior year in high school.

And one running back committed to the Gators might just be in line for a huge senior year.

Florida Football: Catch Him If You Can

Waltez Clark originally committed to Florida in September 2023 and was, for a while, one of the only commits the Gators had for their class of 2025. The running back out of Tampa is listed at 6'1" and 194 pounds. 247, Rivals, and ESPN consider him four-star, while On3 still has him as a three-star.

If his opening night is any indication, Clark is set up to have a monster season and could seen an ascent up the recruiting rankings like we saw from KD Daniels last season, who went from ranked 466th to 176th over the course of his senior year.

Clark, who plays for Plant High in Tampa, was going up against Carrollwood Day School and had himself a night a video game would say is unrealistic.

Clark only carried the ball seven times, but he amassed 175 yards off those carries and two touchdowns. He also caught the ball three times for 70 yards and another touchdown.

It's one thing to just go off the box score, but his film from the game doesn't lie either. Clark ran 10.77 seconds in the 100-meter dash last year, and that speed showed up on the field. On one of his touchdowns, he took a ball outside, and most running backs around the country would have been stopped for no gain. But Clark hit the edge like a blur and outran the entire defense.

His three touchdowns were important, too, as Plant won the game 28-14.
